Plein Air Painting & Drawing group at Magpie Springs

Escape to the picturesque landscapes of Magpie Springs, nestled in the Southern Adelaide Hills. This is an artist’s dream: rolling vineyards, tranquil gardens, and scenic country vistas. These Plein Air days are an opportunity for artists to immerse themselves in the beauty of the outdoors and capture the unique, ever-changing light and colours of this South Australian gem.

On select Thursdays, we invite artists to set up their easels, unfold their sketchbooks, and bring their creative spirits to Magpie Springs for just $10 per person. With your own art supplies in hand, you’re free to find a peaceful spot in our gardens or grounds, take in the views, and express yourself without instruction or interruption. Whether you’re sketching in charcoal, painting in oils, or experimenting with watercolours, Magpie Springs offers a multitude of scenes to inspire your work. Come solo or bring your Painting group

Note: These sessions are exclusively for those drawing or painting on-site. It’s a relaxed, informal day—its not a class, just you, your art, and the beauty of Magpie Springs. If you’re an art teacher this is your opportunity to hold a class in the gardens or grounds – there’s plenty of room in warmer weather. Want a Guided Experience if you have never picked up a brush? Creative Beginnings hosts a Paint and Sip class on Friday 6pm - 9pm for those who are new to painting or want guidance. Kerry Mart, an experienced instructor, provides everything needed, including all materials, making it a fantastic option for anyone keen to try painting for the first time. The class is $75 and a perfect way to introduce art into your life in a relaxed, social setting. For more information and to book.
